Adventure to Urgent Care

It all started friday night. I had a headache, so I took some advil and then it was fine.
Saturday morning I got up, the headache was way worse, and I was dizzy. So I got my water bottle and went downstairs o the kitchen. I filled up my water bottle, turned to get some advil, realized that I was way sicker than I had thought, and then next thing I know, my mom is yelling out my name and I'm on the kitchen floor.
I had a Temp of 101.6. I was so freaked out that I couldn't get up for a bit. My head hurt so much and the shock that I had actually passed out made me not want to get back up again. I spent the rest of the day on the couch, with a cold washcloth over my eyes and an ice pack behind my head. But I saw Pan's Labyrinth! I had been wanting to see that. By evening, I felt okay. My fever spiked during the night though. I was woken up by my mom's icy hand on my burning hot and sweaty neck. She left and cam eback with some extra strength tylenol and a small cup of water.
Sunday was pretty much the same deal of couch time. I could use some covers now, because I wasn't in as much danger of over heating myself.
My mom even stopped at Panda Express to pick up some orange chicken for dinner, since my dad and bro were still at work.
Monday (today) My dad woke me up around 10:30, saying to get up and get dressed because my Mom was going to come back from work and take me to urgent care.
I did not want to go. But I was convinced and so off we went.
I got there and the wait in the waiting room was okay, but when we got in the room in back, it too freakin' forever to get the doctor to come. I told my mom that that must be what hell is like, waiting forever for the doctor that never comes.
So he finally came, and did all the regular testing. Then he said they were going to hydrate me and send a note to get blood work done. we agreed and off he went.
Then it hit me. they want to hydrate me. That means an IV. ughhh!!! AND blood work!!! All of that swirls around ont tiny little evil prickly word. needles.
inside of me!! They were going to stick one in and leave it there!
The nurse came back in with the iv bag, and my mm was just like..." So is the IV really necessary? Can we just get her some gateraids and have her drink the rest of the day?" The nurse was like, yeah, I understand, sure you can do that.
So he leaves with the bag and needles.
Whew! that was a close one!
next thing I know, the Doctor came back in and explained that the IV was really the best way to go and that they were going to use the same insert for the blood wok as they were goign to the IV. so he talked it all up, convinced mym om that it was the best way to go. and my mom pretty much translated all the doctor mumbo jumbo he had said by telling me that, " it's better fluid for you than anyting you can drink." "it's formulated for your body, so it'll take all if it and use it right away and it wont waste as much."
The IV takes an hour to do, but the blood work takes the same amount of time. ahhhhh!!!!
So the IV was back on. Apparently they got one of the best IV inserters to do mine, but I'm pretty sure that's what they say about everyone who is about to insert sharp things into a finicky college student. But I accepted the lie for the sake of my insanity and sat back and let then suck a small vile of my life away, and then insert along tube into my arm. It was all going fine ( after the initial shock of feeling the stupid needle under my skin) until the little asian woman that did the incertion told me not to bend my arm, because the needle was there. I shot a glance at my mom, and I knew she saw terror in my eyes because right away she said "uh-oh. I think that was the wrong thing to say" the asian woman tried to soothe me, saying that nothing was ther, and I didn't have anything to worry about, but the damage was done. it was still there, inside me. And it stayed there. occasionally I would have moments when I would feel it, and then it would feel sore and tingly and i would start to tear up and panic. But my mom was there, and she did her best to keep me distracted. She played eye-spy (even thought there were only 4 color to choose from) had me guess a number from 1-10, and even attempted to tap dance.
I was helped a lot by you guys, texting back and forth, typing out the word with one hand distracted me from noticing the little silver menace lurking under my skin.
Finally it was all done. my blood test was fine except for some strange reason my platelet count is down. =/ they didn't know what that meant, so guess what? I get more follow up appointments with more blood tests to figure out what's wrong with me. oh joy.
on the way home we stopped at a jack in the box. Because the people at urgent care didn't give me a sticker, and I was a darn brave girl who deserved a large cookies and cream milkshake.
I was doing fine after, but then things started to get worse. I'm dizzy again and my head hurts. Fever's down for now, but I'm about to head off to bed, so that means it's bound to go up again in the middle of the night. I'm drinking lots and lots of water, and peeing like a race full of race horses. In fact, I've got to go again, and hit the hay* cuz I'm darn tootin' tired.
love all of you!

*get it? "hay" race horse? :D

The End of the First Semester

WE'RE DONE!! :D Finals are over and we're all heading home. This is a very bittersweet reality however. Since we haven't told you yet, here's some bad news: Nunu isn't coming back next semester. :'( We are all very sad and we will miss her dearly, but sometimes that's just the way things have to be. God has us all in His hands and He's got our best interests in mind, even though it might not seem like it to us. And don't worry, you haven't seen the last of her! She's going to keep blogging...she's still part of First East, even if she doesn't live here anymore. The rest of us are going to skype her, facebook her, call her, send her tons of letters, etc. Kendall and I are both getting our wisdom teeth out and we're planning on calling Nunu when we're drugged up.

We are all pretty excited to see our families. Nunu left this morning to drive up to Oregon. Brenna's mom came tonight to help her pack up, and then they drove off to San Diego. I fly back to Minnesota tomorrow morning. Hopefully that all goes well and my flight doesn't get delayed. It's supposed to snow at home the rest of the week. I'm also kinda worried that they're going to yell at me for doing something wrong when I check in. I've never flown alone before. Kendall flies back to Northern Cali tomorrow evening. Right now, she's at some weird Torrey Honor student event called Dead Kitty or something. No one really knows why it's called that or what it is...guess we'll find out.

I don't think there's too much else to tell...I suppose I could regale you with stories of our college Christmas, but I've got to go pack up. There's soooo much to fit into two tiny suitcases. I've got to be pretty cutthroat with which clothes I want to bring home. :) Farewell, friends!

Nunu's Birthday!!!

First, we kidnapped her!!!

Then we drove her around, confused her by driving around campus and back through, then to the gas station, then to starbucks :D
We finally got to the beach!
and it was time to bust out the jones soda and get a fire goin'
we had all the good stuff: jones (we pronounce it: ho-nehs) soda, oreo cookies with peanut butter, and of course the fixin's for s'mores!!!

Photobucket

THEN!!! We went Drive-thru caroling!!!!! We stopped by Big Lots and got some candy canes, then we drove home, rehearsing songs and stopping by fast food places on the way back. The people LOVED it! :D

I love this one! We ran into the car ahead of us so we had to keep singing a while, but the guy's reaction is awesome! Complete with a jazz hands ending

Finals are fast approaching! We've got to study study study and work work work! for me it's more like study, paint, study draw, paint, draw, study, paint, draw, cut, glue, maybe study. Oh, the joys of being an Art major :D

Fires and Fabulous Food

In case you haven't heard, the fires here in Cali have been pretty voracious. There was one in Brea, which is pretty close to us. Only about 8-10 miles away. We could see the smoke start early in the morning on Saturday and by mid-afternoon it had filled the sky. It was hard to breathe outside, which left campus pretty deserted, but did give us sweet pics like these:

If only I could have taken a picture at sunset time! The sun was seriously deep red! On Sunday, it was raining ash like some form of weird snow...except not the kind you would want to catch on your tongue. By Monday, the air was clear and it has been since. Another Christian college in Cali, Westmont, actually had the a fire burn down some of their buildings! Scary! Thank goodness that God protected them and there were no lives lost.

Last night, the caf treated us to Thanksgiving dinner, a week early. Dr. Barry Corey and his wife were slicing up the turkey and serving it. The food was marvelous!! We all enjoyed the festive atmosphere as well. Nu-Nu leaves for home today with her guy friends from Oregon. She's skipping her classes on Monday and Tuesday...shhh! Kendall leaves for home on Tuesday. Brenna and I are going to hang around here until Wednesday or Thursday, then head for her house in San Diego. Should be exciting for me, cause I've never been there. Well, that's about all for now. God's blessings on your Thanksgiving. Take a few minutes to remember what you have to be thankful for. Bye now!

The Surprise Party Extravaganza!!! :)

Hey, it's Kendall. So, this past weekend, I got to go home after being at school for... two and a half months, which, believe me, is a LONG time to be away from home. Anyway, I woke up at 4:20 and sat in the airport for three hours (the shuttle insisted on picking me up at 5...) then flew out of LAX to SFO, where my mother picked me up! Then I went home for the last few preparations for my boyfriend Joe's surprise birthday party which I had been planning since... mid september? :) (I wanted to be sure that I picked a day where most everyone could come... haha). So, as you can imagine, the trip was long awaited! And let me tell you, as the time got closer and closer, it was harder and HARDER to keep it a secret! But, it all worked out just perfectly! Everyone got there and parked out of sight... except for one person... but that's okay :)! He was so surprised and everyone had an awesome time! Oh... back track a bit... His friend Alex took him out of the house earlier that day so that everyone could sneak in and set up, and his mother told him she was having a candle party. So, when we were ready to get him back and surprise him, his mom called him and said something was wrong, and to come home right away. So he comes in, and the first thing you hear is "mom, why the heck do you have Rock Band out?" (thinking she and her friends had done something detrimental to it!) and then everyone jumped out and yelled, "SURPRISE!!". Except me... because I "wasn't there", until he came into his mother's room and opened part of his present, which was me inside a box, hahaha. It was great! I thoroughly enjoyed planning it, and getting to bring him joy however I could for life in general, but specifically his birthday (even though i threw the party two weeks early...). So, ya! I spent my weekend there, hanging out with Joe, whom I had missed very much... and it was just SO good to be home and with him again. And to top it all off, we had delicious Japanese food! What could be better than being with those you love, fun times, and great Japanese food, right? Sadly, I was only there for two days, but I will be returning home for thanksgiving in roughly two weeks! So, I'm excited for that! Oh, and side note... I finally got to meet the two interns that have been living in my house for the past two months... one is from Argentina, and the other is from Ukraine? or something like that... but, it was interesting finally meeting the people I had heard stories about! Alrighty! That's all I've got to say... EXCEPT... thanks God for answering all my prayers for this last weekend! I got rain, my party plans worked, and my boyfriend enjoyed his party :) which is enough for me!

Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head

Well, friends. The most important news as of late is currently in progress. IT IS RAINING!! Yes, folks, that's right. It actually rains in Southern Cali. Woah! I kinda want to whip out my wonderful pink and burgundy umbrella from Gap and run around barefoot through the puddles.

Yesterday was Halloween!! :D Our dorm, Alpha Chi, rolled out the red carpet (actually colored squares of plastic tablecloth) for its annual sugary bash, Candyland, based on the board game. Each of the six floors decorates according a character from the game and the lobby is transformed into a center for all those tacky carnival games everyone "loves." Our floor was Gloppy, and we morphed that into Gloppyland, as in Disneyland. Each of the dorm rooms decorated their door like a ride from the park. Kendall's door was Pirates of the Caribbean. She won third place in the door decorating contest. Brenna's door was Indiana Jones. She made a sweet bridge out of sticks and yarn, and a 3-D boulder. Nu-nu and my door was Splash Mountain. Three little lollipops (which strangely resembled Brenna, Nu-Nu and I) were riding a log boat into a splash of molasses glop. So for three hours last night, we handed out candy to adorable little kids in costumes. They were really cute!

Also, yesterday was free burrito day at Chipotle!! Brenna, Kendall, Kelsey, and I accented our sweet Halloween costumes with tin foil and partook in deliciousness like no other, especially since it was free. Kendall was Arwen from LOTR, in a gorgeous green dress she designed and her mother made. Brenna was Snow White, and quite popular among the little girls who came to Candyland. Kelsey was...a skier. Aka, she didn't really dress up but was wearing an old skiing sweater and jeans. I was none other than the amazing....KIM POSSIBLE!! I used a black shirt and shoes I already had and bought some cargo pants from the little boys' section of Target. I also dyed my hair a lovely shade of red. Now that's commitment!

As the festivities wound down last night, Brenna, Kendall, and I headed out for our nightly walk around campus. We passed a couple of families talking and witnessed the most epic battle known to mankind. Indiana Jones vs. the Storm Trooper!! Little did those innocent children know that they each represented a George Lucas film series and were encompassed in the most awe-inspiring battle ever embarked upon. We didn't stay long enough to congratulate the winner, but I'm pretty sure Indiana Jones probably won.

Well, I believe that is about all for now. Brenna, Nu-Nu, and Kendall just headed for the beach...in the rain...shortly before dusk...weridos. I stayed to work on hw...which is scarier than all the ghouls on Halloween. Hmm...I'm feeling a Thriller rendition coming on....

The Adventure AFTER Disneyland

So, I got a Disneyland pass for my Birthday. Kendall was super excited because she had one, but was lacking someone to go with. And now I have one! So we decided to go on Friday after the Torrey conferences. Well, Friday was yesterday. And Disneyland was awesome! Indiana Jones is wayyyy better if you sit up front and Space Mt. was as traumatizing as ever. The grand adventure started when we got in the Disneyland parking structure. We followed the cones and went up to the Donald level. Right when we got in the battery thing went down to red. Luckily we got the car into a spot, but when Kendall tried to turn it back on, it was dead.
So we decided to have a fun day at Disneyland and worry about the car later. Disneyland is pretty much the best place to be stuck with a dead car besides the mechanics. So we have fun, but of course called people who we knew that were at the park that day and asked them if they had jumper cables in between rides. Well, no one we knew stayed very late or even ended up coming at all. So we went to City Hall on our way out (we left early.. around 8:30, which is good considering what came after that...) and asked what to do to get help. So what we had to do it figure out where our car was (it was in Donald 1G) and find a blue light to push the button. The people on the intercom asked where we were, what kind of car we have and what we needed. The spot next to us was open so we stood in it to save it for the security people.
One thing people never notice is how much the parking structure shakes when you stand still. People are either so preoccupied with getting to the park as fast as they can, or getting home as fast as they can, that they never stop and feel how the concrete trembles beneath you every time a car passes by.
So this security guy comes and jumps the car for a second and then it seems to be fine so we go on our way. We're praying to make it back and for God to keep the car going, but once we get on the freeway the thing goes to red again. We got off at the closest exit and find a place to stop. Thank the Lord there was a Starbucks off the freeway. I just started pointing at it going "Starbucks!!! Go there!! Go There!!!!"
We stop at Starbucks, in a spot where another car can get to us. And Kendall starts calling her amazing friends from Torrey. At least it's not a McDonald's again....
So we go inside, thinking instead of cheeseburgers and french fries, this time we can drown our misfortune in sorbetos and grande tuxedos.
there we were again, waiting for help. So, what a better time to document our bad luck?!

Kendall's phone started to die after a while. So we quickly wrote out the phone numbers we needed on my coffee cup with our only writing utensil, a highlighter, and left messages on everyone's phone telling them my cell number so they could get a hold of us.
One of Kendall's friends from her Torrey group, Chris, tells us that he's coming with his roommate to help us. Thinking that if the jump doesn't work that we'd still need a ride back to school.

Here's a bit of the history on Kendall's car. After it started to act funny we replaced the battery, that didn't work. So When Kendall's Mom came down they took it to get fixed. The alternator was bad, so they fixed that, but the battery was still being weird. So it was either a bad alternator or the battery was so drained that the car couldn't recharge it once it was going. The guy at Disneyland only jumped it for a couple seconds. So When Chris came he and his roommate, Tim, jumped it for about 10 min.

So when that was done they got in their car, we got in ours, and we started to follow them back to school because they knew the back roads so we didn't have to go back onto the freeway.
We stopped at a red light for a bit too long and the car died. The guys had already gone through the intersection, so they had to go on and turn around, while Kendall and I put on our emergency lights and sat there.
Some people in a huge SUV behind us were being thick headed and sat there behind us waiting for our car to move, even though our lights were on and Kendall signaled to them several times to go around. Finally they got the idea and went on, but hey, they were stupid enough to buy a SUV, so let's cut them some slack.
While sitting there, waiting for the guys to come back, this one guy backs up in the lane next to us and asks if we're okay. Kendall tells him that we're waiting for our friends to come back to help. He tells us that we should get the car out of the road. And we're just like, yeahhh...... we're gunna do that. So the guy leaves, and Kendall's friends are back by then and behind us, with their lights on now, because our car is so dead the emergency lights don't even work anymore.
We're sitting there wondering why the guys are just sitting there, and wondering what we're going to do next when they guy from the car comes running up to us with two random skater kids, the guys get out of their car and the 5 of them push the car across the intersection to a bus stop. The guy and the skater kids disappear into the night, and after pulling up behind us, the guys start calling AAA for a tow truck. The truck was going to take about 30 min. So we all chilled in our cars. Luckily Kendall and I had brought her portable ipod speakers, so we listened and sang along to music.
First on the list. "The Prayer" by Celtic Woman. I found it to be perfect at this point of time. Then the Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion version. That song will never be the same. We were interrupted towards the end by the guys peculiar activity in the car behind us. They were hitting their heads, then Tim got out and ran to a tree, touched it, and ran back to the car. After a bit Chris did the same (later we asked them what they were doing and they said they were knocking on wood).
After that odd occurrence we decided that we needed a bit of a pick-me-up. We were stranded, but at least we could make the best of it! So we put on some Techno and started dancing.
The truck got here, buckled up the car in back and we all got into Tim's car and drove back to school. The cool thing is he had 200 miles on his AAA card, so we didn't have to worry about paying for it. Yay!
So we got back safe and sound (at 11:30). The car is in the Biola parking lot, sitting there like the pile of chair that it is. Kendall keeps talking about buying foreign next time.
We went back to my room and had some tea and watched The Office. It was a long night. But grand one none the less.
All I have to say is thank God for good friends and techno music.

P.S.
I want to be proposed to here:

Keep that in mind guys, be sure to tell the poor fool who falls in love with me.

Happy Birthday Brenna!

Brenna's birthday was this past week. She's practically elderly now...19! Kendall, Nu-Nu and I all dug deep into our nearly empty pockets to purchase lovely presents for her...namely a water bottle, yarn, boba gift cards, and books. Aren't we generous? And like any good journalism major, I wrapped mine in an old newspaper. On Tuesday night, we all dressed up and went to the dollar theater to see Wall-E. Nu-Nu was the only one who hadn't seen it already, but that was ok because it's a great movie. If you haven't seen it yet, drop EVERYTHING (coffee, purse, small child) to go see it at your friendly neighborhood dollar theater!! We stopped at Coldstone Creamery to get some ice cream before the flick. Yummy! It was a marvelous evening.

Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week was the Torrey Bible Conference. This year's theme was Sex and the Soul...yup. It was actually pretty good for the most part. I feel like it definitely challenged me in some areas of my faith and life. There were ten sessions over the three days, and we decided to go to the first eight to meet our attendance requirement so we could have today off! It's a good thing we did, since Nu-Nu and I slept until about noon! We were tired!!

Before last night's session, we went to Panera for din-din. We had been planning on going to Panera before Wall-E, but we didn't have enough time, so we just hit Coldstone instead. I was looking at my receipt while we were eating, and I noticed that I had "1 noodle" printed on mine instead of "1 chicken noodle soup." The other girls glanced at theirs too, and found that we were having quite the odd meal. Kendall "1 crm tom" or a Cream Tom. Brenna had "1 diet bk cher" or a Diet Black Cher (as in the singer). Last, and definitely the best, Nu-Nu had "1 chx nood" or Chicks Nude and "1/2 sierra turk" or 1/2 Sierra Turk (as in the nationality). We laughed for about ten minutes straight! I'm surprised none of us choked on our food.

Bethany and Nu-Nu are going on a college group retreat this weekend. They're headed to the mountains or something silly like that. Brenna and Kendall are at Disneyland right now. I'm here all alone. Oh well. When I am by myself, I get a lot of homework done...usually.

Getting Smart

Last night, Kendall, Nu-Nu, Brenna, and I had a nice little adventure. Go figure. We decided to hit the dollar movie theater (which actually charged us $2 for tickets, and an arm and a leg for snacks) for a fun outing. We checked movie listings online, debating on what movie to see and finally deciding on Get Smart, figuring we could all use a little intelligence. We didn't take Nu-Nu's car, since a walk would help keep off the Freshman 15. We had skipped dinner, preparing for a stop at Golden Spoon for some "fro-yo." It was quite delicious.

Once we made it back to campus, we crossed a pipe over a small stream. Brenna was really afraid she was going to fall in. I climbed a tree I had wanted to climb since I got here.

That's about it for last night. Ta-ta for now!!

The Adventures of Mr. Toothbrush

We found a toothbrush in the 2nd floor hallway last week. We felt badly for the poor little guy, all alone in the world. Actually, Brenna felt badly for him. The rest of us didn't know of his existence for quite some time. It started with a simple suggestion by our neighbor, Kelsey Upward: "Brenna, why don't you knit a blanket for him?" This started a frenzy of brainstorm-induced creativity, which produced not only said blanket, but also a nightcap, bed (with sheets), pillow, nightstand, and lamp. We left it at that, hoping others would pick up the torch and run with it, so to speak. The desired result came to pass, as two windows, Mrs. Toothbrush, Baby Q-Tip, and a frowsy cotton ball cat were added to the mix by random strangers. I utilized a piece of pretty mail from the art department to make a Japanese changing screen for them as well. All this was added before the happy little scene was interrupted by...AN EARTHQUAKE!! Actually, it was multiple earthquakes and they were not really earthquakes, but purposeful destruction inflicted upon this happy family by malicious persons which have not been accused. Mrs. Toothbrush, Baby Q-Tip, and Snowball (the cat) were accosted (aka broken or mauled). Luckily the Red Cross came to the rescue, saving their lives. Because of the imminent danger of more earthquakes, the Toothbrush family decided to move to a safer local. They are now happily residing in their new home, surrounded by their true friends on First Floor East.

Blogging from my iPod...

so don't hate on type-os. Kendall and I are stuck at a McDonalds in Pasadena! Now how did that happen, You may ask. Well,we were taking Kendalls friend back to APU. And goodle maps took us the wrong way =[. We were trying to get to the 605 and ended up in Pasadena. No biggie cuz we can get directions! So we stopped at a McDonalds, asked the guy how to get to the 605. After we heard it would take about 20 min to get to the 605 we decided to grab a bite to eat. It was all good, we drowned our getting lost sorrows in cheese burgers and french fries. Then we got out to the car and Lo! the car won't start. After about 20 min of freaking out, we settled down and got things going. We got a plan into action. We even documented it with a nice video that we'll put up in the next couple days. Now we're standing in the parking lot with Kendalls aunt, waiting for her uncle to get here with jumpercables. I think were gunna stay the night at their house tonight. So that's it for now. I'm so thankfull for mcdonalds wi-fi! I'll keep u, readers, like everyone else, posted.
P.S. Google maps is NOT the best. True dat. Double true.

Horton Hears a Girl!!

One of the best things about the location of our dorm rooms is the live music. Right across from us, in Horton, a very excellent band jams in their room on numerous occasions. They leave their window open, letting their smashing rock renditions float down to our ears. Today, Kendall and I decided to find out exactly what room it was coming from. We bravely entered Horton and headed to the North end, the side closer to our dorm. Our naivety proved to be our downfall. Unknowingly, we stumbled upon a guys' hall. We realized this when it was too late, and found ourselves trapped between a wall and a very angry male! He proceeded to reprimand us for being there and told us in no uncertain terms to exit the premises. We hurriedly followed his advice, trailing apologies and excuses behind us. Once out of sight and hearing, we burst into nervous laughter. So needless to say, Horton (which we already disliked for the stereotype of being the rich kids) proved itself to be a very unwelcoming place. We will be sending hate mail soon.

It was so fun wearing these shirts!
We got hugs from random people in the cafe... random people walking to class...
Kendall and I even went to all the open doors in our dorm and asked people if they wanted a hug. =]
Some people loved it. Others.... not so much.

San Diego in a couple of days!!

National Free Hug Day!! (x2)

Today was National Free Hug Day!! We made shirts. Bright pink ones. With the words "FREE HUgS" written on them. (Yes, the lowercase g was on purpose.) We got lots of hugs and made some new friends. It was rather enjoyable. Not to mention I was wearing a pair of sweet new squirrel shorts I got at Target Boutique. That just made it so much better.

As for the rest of life, we haven't really been up to too much lately. The infamous San Diego trip is this weekend. We don't even know who all is going yet. Exciting.

We've discovered a few random things over the past few days though:

1. Parrots are the most annoying bird ever. Large droves of them fly over daily, squawking their heads off. I often wish I had a pistol and good aim.

2. Scooters are, inexplicably, all the rage. Everyone has one!! From the ghetto black girl to the random girl who wears medieval clothing, from the jock guy to the skater dude. It's a weird fad that we do not quite understand. Is it really that necessary to tote a scooter with you at all times so you can get places a little bit quicker? Just leave earlier, for Pete's sake! Not to mention, scooter riders look rather hilarious while getting jostled nearly off said scooters while riding over the cobblestones. Ha! My personal "favorite" part of these lovely transportation items is their handles. Apparently, the handles are very large, and having them fold in two inches makes a huge difference. Yeah...

3. I recently realized that the ceilings in Alpha's hallways are really low. If I run and jump, I am inches away from smashing my head open on the lights. Flirting with death is quite fun and I do it often.

4. Yet another flaw with our wonderful dorm is the door handle to the stairway. It has already broken off once during our time here, necessitating the door being propped open, even though it is a fire door and supposed to remain closed at all times. The people who fix things "fixed" it. It is now falling off again. We are going to get stuck in this death trap one of these days.

5. We also found a money hiding/study spot. It will remain nameless.

6. Lastly, there is an extremely awkward guy who goes to this school. (He also rides a scooter. Go figure.) Every single time we see him, we marvel at his hair. It is quite a work of...art? I don't even quite know how to describe it. It is short in the back and sprouts out in the front like...alien hair? Very similar to Mario in some ways. It's just downright odd.

Well, time to catch some zzz. That's all for now, folks!

Tenth Adventursity!!!!

So, it is my highest honor to get to write to you all about our wonderful, amazing, sensational, fabuloso, stupendissimo..... TENTH ADVENTURSITY!!!!! (meaning tenth adventure anniversary, for anyone completely lost and confused ^_^)
So, we worked up to adventure number ten within what... two weeks? haha... good times, good times. But I've got to say, the tenth had to have been one of the best and most unique... cuz, guess what?? We went to an America's Funniest Video taping and saw Tom Bergeron and EVERYTHING!!! It was totally awesome... or, well, it was minus all the forced over-laughing and below freezing point temperature in the studio. But, all in all, it was totally awesome seeing a show that's been running for 19 years straight in person!!
After the taping we went to Chipotle and found out that 43 avacados die in every batch of guacamole... so sad... But the burritos were sooo good.
Other notes.... we started using a new term aside from "that's the milk". We found out that our word "hot" when said in the Czech republic means snake in Czech... so, obviously, we started inserting snake into every phrase for the word hot... and let me tell you, it's soooo snake! ;) We also discovered today that even the most innocent, regular phrases used in life can be converted into really perverted sounding ones simply by adding "you know what i mean" after each phrase... and of course with the right voice inflection... haha. Example: "That salad looks sooo good... if you know what i mean..."
'Aight, that's all from me for now! more adventures to come!!! We go to San Diego next week! :D

The Latest from Lower East

Where do I even begin? Since last night, the adventures have only continued at their normal supersonic pace. Well, I suppose I am getting a little ahead of myself. Brenna forgot to mention adventure #6 that happened last night...the near, almost, so-close-I-practically-peed-my-pants demise of four of us. Nu-Nu stayed home from our little Target outing, being a good little student. Kendall and Brenna were trying to find Bobaloca (a smoothie place famous for ruining perfectly good drinks with balls of boba, the nastiest thing ever invented by mankind...tastes like large brown boogers) so Kendall got in the turn lane. Little did she know that this turn lane ended abruptly, not at the light as she was expecting, but in a median or a sharp turn. So Kendall, distracted by said stoplight, was cruising right along, headed straight for the median. Since I was in the front seat, I began reacting to said median with increasing degrees of intensity as it approached. Long story short, Kendall noticed at the last second and swerved back into the normal lanes of traffic. Thank God we were okay!!

After last night's raving party (adventure #7), we decided that we needed (yes, needed) more cool things to rave with...such as glow sticks, white-out, Hannah Montana (barfing) hair glitter, and highlighters. We purchased these at a very amusing dollar store. Brenna and I wanted fairy wings, but they were too small. Bummer. We tested said rave items tonight in the black light and here's the results: the glow sticks obviously work (no, we didn't actually test them...they will work, trust us), the white-out was a bust, as was the hair glitter, but the highlighters were...SPECTACULAR!! You can barely see them in normal light, but in the blacklight...nigh bliss. We are currently planning a sweet rave in the near future, following more trips to stores that sell highlighters and strobe lights...namely, Target.

On a side note, our meals are often spiced up by certain persons. Brenna, for instance, often makes awkward sexual remarks. Like at our Commencement Dinner, when Brenna wanted Psych major Kendall to psycho-analyze her. She happened to phrase it like this: "Will you do me?!?" She of course didn't realize the awkwardness of this turn of phrase, until we told her. She was extremely embarrassed. Yet despite this, Brenna continues to talk before she thinks. Today, at dinner, Brenna wanted the frosting removed from her cupcake and said "Take it off, just take it all off!" Oh, Brenna. In her defense, she's not the only one. Nu-Nu's friend's roommate Katie told Kendall "That salad looks really good" when Kendall happened to be leaning over it in her tank top. Not to mention, the vocal intonations just added to the awkwardness.

Another one of our meal-time activities is gazing at our favorite "blapharon"...aka someone with nice eyebrows in Old English. We really haven't noticed whether his brows are in good shape or not, but that's just our code name for "him." This studly male is musically gifted, artistically skilled, a fashion-plate (Brenna insists I mention the vest he was wearing today), and just downright gorgeous. In the words of my dark-haired neighbor..."He's like the sun. You can only look at him for so long before you get spots in your eyes."

Tonight held adventures #8 and #9. First, we made a little trip to Little India to get bulk henna. We found a market that sold it and was run by an intimidating but nice Indian woman. She made sure we knew what we were doing, and even offered to give us a book of designs. We are planning on dropping by there again in the near future to pick it up. On the way back from our outing to Little India and Dollar Tree, Kendall's car battery started dying. We were a little freaked out and Kendall put the car in neutral at every red stoplight to rev the engine so we didn't stall. Since I am writing this right now, we obviously made it back. Whew!! Not that I would have normally minded being stranded on the side of the road in the dark (hey, another adventure right?), but I had homework due tonight that I had previously procrastinated.

Some other things to note: Brenna isn't an oral speaker, I don't name thing I sit on, Bethany made call backs (yay!), which is why she wasn't with us tonight, and we developed a new "swear word." Pho is a Vietnamese noodle dish similar to Ramen (so Brenna heard from her brother) and boba is aforementioned nasty brown balls of goo...so pho and boba turns into...pho 'n boba (which is pronounced futtinbobo)...see?? Sounds like a swear word. So we proceeded to call each other pho 'n bobas for the rest of the evening in British accents. True story.

I believe that is all to write for now. Tomorrow is our Tenth Adventur-sary!! Going to the AFV taping!! Woot for dressing up and looking cute!! Bye for now!!

Reality Show

College life!!
I've been talking with my college buddies, and we need a reality TV show. Because what place is more interesting than the bottom floor of an all girls dorm. AT a christian college =D
SEE? it's better than Laguna Beach. You know it is.
picture this: Three girls in a room. One reading in a bunk bed, one in a chair on the computer, and one reading on the floor (me). The door is halfway open. It's all quiet, the girls are studying and all the sudden, you see about four more girls quietly lunge past the open door. Like, the exercise, lunge.
It's been a little over a week, and we already have a "gansta" hand motion known as the "Three Centimeter Salute". My neighbor is a nursing major, who has friends in the labor and delivery department. =D
in fact, at this moment she's up in her bed, studying flash cards.....
Photobucket

That's Elisabeth ( Nunu) Studying away.... doing the 3cm salute =D
Her roommie is Kelsey ( Jojo). I'm at her desk right now, since she's out and my roommie is asleep. Nunu and Jojo's room has become the study room. Since my roommate, Bethany, likes to listen to music as she studies, I found this a very nice place to be when I need to concentrate.
Kendall ( from down the hall) has been known to come here as well, when her room gets too hectic ( 3 in one room! yikes) or lonely.
What else.......... I don't know...
Nunu? any ideas??
-"our brownies"
Oh yes! we made brownies. Of course we had to go to the store to get the brownie mix, eggs, and oil. And we had adventure #4 when we went in search of an Indian market that no longer exists where google maps said it was. BUT! there is good news. We got BOBA!!!! Kendall and I LOVE boba! and we got Nunu, Bethany, and our friend Mary to try it. Strawberry Slush with boba..... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!
Brownies! yes.. we got the mix and fixins' AND we got milk chocolate Symphony bars ( a trick I learned from my lovely friend Samantha Michelle, who is at college in Arizona). We put half the batter in the pan.... chocolate bars layed down, then the other half on top. Bake.
Believe me, it sounds amazing, but I honestly only had one small bite, after that you just feel sick. Hahaha. I'll post the pics later of Nunu's amazing Brownie Flipping skills.... when we tried to get them out of the pan.... they weren't really brownies anymore...........
Photobucket

After getting ourselves sick off brownies.... oh! and Oreos dipped in natural peanut butter... it's like heaven in your mouth!!!!!!!! and a few games of Kings in a corner in the hall... we watched " A Little Princess." Because we're girls. And we can. =]
Adventure #5...... girls out to Brea Mall, here by Fullerton. We tried on dresses in this one store..
Photobucket

Apparently you cant take pictures in there though.. oops...
If you're all wondering what adventures took place before #s 4 and 5.... Kendall and I bonded over our love of Halloween superstores. And we're soo close to soo many! So yeah.... Friday trips to Burbank and back =D Harry potter glasses.... and liquid latex
We also bonded over boba and our new obsession with henna. We went halvsies on a kit we found at the Art Supply Warehouse ( where I spent about $170 on art supplies for my classes.. eek!). And did some henna on ourselves.... and everyone else around us.... it looked like a little, but it was a lot!
The design on my hand........
Photobucket

And my favorite!!! It's actually high up there on my list for if I ever get an actual tattoo....
Photobucket

just the apple though, not the swirlies. =D
We're going to go to a taping of AFV ( Americas Funniest Home Videos) on Saturday!!
That should be awesome.
I love living up here, where we're so close to everything. There's a lot to do up in LA or down in the OC. hmmmm... " Jojo? what else should I write about?????"
- * brushing teeth* "Beau"
me- "ohhhhhhhh!!!!............no."
Jojo- *kicks slipper at me*
Discussion on peeing for long periods of time...yup, that just happened while sitting in the hallway- Jojo.
Okay.... Jojo is going to tell you all a story now..... about the reason why she kicked her slipper at me =]
Jojo------
"NO, Jojo is going to bed like a smart little duck, leaving all this late-night blogging for the crazy hooligans who think they are characters from books. Goodnight Brenna."
---- I know perfectly well that I am not a character from a book, we're just alike in many ways....... At least take a picture with me =D
"Looking like I just crawled out from under a rock? Hardly."-Jojo
" i do too!!! PLEEEEEEEEEAAAAASSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!"* adorable face*
*laughing* "You call that adorable?!?"-Jojo "I'm going to bed...if you want a picture with me you'll have to pick the lock."
=[ she ran away................. poo.
well.... i should go to bed as well... I need to brush my teeth and all that jazz....
So, goodnight to all.. or should I say good morning? it is, after all, 12:08 in the morning.....
I have intro to psych tomorrow at 1:30.....
Goodnight!!!!!

P.S.- sorry for the weird photobucket thingies.. i dunno how to fix them =D
